Challenge:
The front garden cried out for welcoming charm equal to the wonderful architecture of the 1930’s stucco home and its elegant interior. Many plants had died when over-large shading evergreen trees were removed leaving beds too bare. Redesign time!
Now:
Lushly, layered plantings welcome quests as they peer over the low hedge and wrought-iron fence, go through the gate and up the curving walkway to the enclosed entry courtyard. The quiet fountain is a soothing sound under the dramatically mature wisteria overhead. The dense ground cover discourages weed growth helping with maintenance. The new lawn shape repeats the curve of the hardscaping. A new trellis holds an evergreen clematis softening the stucco exterior. Interesting, textured plantings are attractive throughout the four-seasons and compliment the home’s architecture. Something wonderful is in bloom most of the year. |
