Associate Member APLD |
Growing up in
the Pacific NW, Kat earned her Masters in
Education at Central Washington State University. After
retiring from the Bellevue Public School District she
studied Horticultural Design at Edmonds Community College.
Kat takes responsibility for selecting plants, choosing
containers, selecting garden furniture and artwork,
and combining colors.
Kat is currently the secretary for the WA Chapter of the
Association of Professional Landscape Designers. The
organization is dedicated to promoting quality design,
upholding high industry standards, and promoting
environmentally sounds practices in the green industry. She
was one of the designers of the APLDWA 2009 Northwest Flower
and Garden Show exhibit.
Kat is the past chairperson of Picture Perfect Queen Anne, a
volunteer group, working in conjunction with the City of
Seattle and the Queen Anne Community Council to renovate and
revitalize the commercial corridor on Queen Anne Hill.
Land2c donated the planting design for the new planting beds
at the Galer, McGraw, and Boston intersections. She is
heading up the fundraising drive for their completion and
maintenance. Kat is also active in the Northwest
Horticultural Society and regularly attends lectures and
horticultural classes.
She enjoys getting clients enthused about the process of
designing their garden. “This should be FUN!—after all, its
not brain surgery.” And, of course, she always enjoys
teaching a little botany and soil science in the process.
 Tim
& Kat work closely with clients to ensure
that each project meets the goals of the client and is a
creative, high-quality design. Client satisfaction is
important at Land2c.
They stay current in landscape design and architecture,
horticulture, and the latest in sustainable practices by
regularly attending educational presentations, touring
gardens, reading current literature, and attending a variety
of classes. They both enjoy traveling and studying new
gardens for inspiration whenever possible. Both are active
in the Washington Chapter of the Association of Professional
Landscape Designers.
